Post Kitchen & Bar is a true gem of Modern American Cuisine with a global twist, making it a standout destination for us. Nestled in The Shoppes at UTC (close to Marshalls and Total Wines), this full-service restaurant consistently delivers exceptional food quality and attentive service, earning its place as one of our favorite go-to spots.
On our most recent visit, the dining experience was great as usual. The addictive house-made bread and whipped butter sets the tone for the meal, and quite frankly impossible to resist! Jane opted for the Burrata Salad with Gulf Shrimp and a side of Truffle Fries. The salad delivered a harmonious blend of creamy burrata with some texture from the toasted crostini, with the shrimp adding a delightful finishing touch. A garnish of arugula with lemon would have elevated the dish further, but that’s just my personal opinion. The Truffle Fries were a rich and satisfying side.
As an Englishman and a trained chef, I have a particular soft spot for Fish and Chips. We have visited Post Kitchen on a
number of occasions but I had yet to try their fish and chips for fear of disappointment. The lightly battered haddock was tender and flavorful, paired with steak fries and a refreshing coleslaw. While I would have preferred hand-cut, triple-cooked fries for added texture, the dish was still very enjoyable.
The menu is thoughtfully crafted, showcasing the freshest local ingredients in every dish and slightly different choices than many of our local restaurants. Whether you’re indulging in pasta, seafood, or premium steaks, you can taste the “made-from-scratch” difference. Their extensive selection of champagne and sparkling wines pairs beautifully with offerings from the raw bar, while the global wine list, craft cocktails, and impressive American whiskey and bourbon collection ensure there’s something for every palate.
The ambiance strikes a balance between relaxed sophistication and comfort. While the bar area can be a little busy, the restaurant area and outdoor terrace seating offer a quieter, more serene dining experience, perfect for enjoying Sarasota’s beautiful weather.
The staff deserves special mention for their friendliness and unrushed approach, ensuring each visit feels relaxed and welcoming. The restaurant is impeccably clean, and the attention to detail in both the food and the service is evident.
