Our Dining Experience at Focaccia Sandwich & Bakery
If you’re a fan of fresh, wholesome food made with passion and care, you ‘have’ to visit Focaccia Sandwich & Bakery!
Tucked away in the Colonnade shopping plaza on Bee Ridge, this cozy bakery with a spotlessly clean open kitchen, opened earlier this year, and it has already deservedly created quite the buzz. After hearing about their commitment to using clean, organic ingredients and making everything in-house, we knew we had to give them a try—and they didn’t disappoint!
Our Visit – An Explosion of Flavor
Jane and I walked into a very warm welcome and a description from Nick, the owner, of their ethos and menu. Nick will happily talk to you about his culinary journey as well.
I ordered the ‘The Italian’ and it was full of flavor filled with, Coppa, prime rib, porchetta, pickled red onion, aged mozzarella, arugula, and a Calabrian chili aioli, It was hands down one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. The combination of ingredients complemented each other perfectly and certainly enough to satisfy the hungriest of appetites.
Jane ordered the ‘Prime Rib’ filled with slow cooked prime rib, burgundy braised onion, white cheddar, smoked horseradish crema and an au jus dip. Although a little messy to eat it was a great sandwich, it lacked a little depth of flavor on its own but the au jus that came on the side, made it very special adding another level of umami flavor.
The star of the show is, of course, their focaccia bread. They take pride in making everything from scratch, and you can taste the care in every bite.
A True Labor of Love
Nick and Danielle, the owners, moved to Sarasota from St. Louis, where Nick honed his skills as a chef for years. Their dedication to quality and craftsmanship is evident in every bite. The bakery’s motto, “Life is short, eat the bread,” couldn’t be more fitting. They’ve truly perfected the art of sandwich-making.
If you’re in the area, Focaccia Sandwich & Bakery is a must-visit. Whether you’re a sandwich aficionado or just someone who appreciates good food, you’ll leave with a full stomach and a happy heart.
